A cooking app gets used with wet hands, in bad light, at arm’s length. Accessibility is not a compliance chore for us; it is the product requirement.
Target
We aim at WCAG 2.2 level AA for platingoes.app and the app itself. This page reflects the state of the marketing site at launch.
What we have done
- Body text at 17–19px with a 4.5:1 minimum contrast ratio; headings and buttons tested against their real backgrounds.
- Every interactive element reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring that is never removed.
- A skip link, one
h1per page, and headings that describe the section rather than decorate it. - All motion (reveals, the demo timer, hover lifts) is disabled automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Decorative renders carry empty alt text; meaningful imagery is described.
- The waitlist form works without JavaScript, labels every field, and reports errors in text rather than colour alone.
- Tap targets of at least 44×44px, which is also why the app’s step cards are the size they are.
Known gaps
- The plating-blueprint overlay conveys spatial relationships visually; a text description of each blueprint is on the roadmap for the first app release.
- Technique clips currently ship without captions; they carry no speech, but we intend to add on-screen text for each motion.
Feedback
If something here blocks you, tell us at [email protected] and we will treat it as a bug, not a suggestion. We answer within five working days.
Drafting note for the Platingoes team: this page ships with the theme as a complete starting point for a Dutch/EU launch. Have counsel review it and then delete this paragraph before go-live.
